The 2024 ICGS Scholarship has been awarded to Calvin Richard Joplin. His Icelandic ancestry includes great-great grandparents Beggi and Ruth Sigurdson and great-grandmother Anna Maria Sigurdson Chester. His mother, Sarah Chester Joplin, was the Icelandic Princess in 1995-1996.

He graduated from Archbishop Murphy High School with a 3.99 GPA and is now attending the University of Montana Honors College and Business College. During high school, he earned multiple academic honors, including the Terry Ennis Award, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Athletically, he played basketball, football, and golf, serving as captain for both basketball and golf in his senior year. He also coached AAU basketball and helps run a family farm.

In the community, he volunteers at Lord's Little Cooker and participates at Lamb of God Lutheran Church. His future goal is to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and graduate with honors.
